Work rooted in tradition
My face pottery is self learned from recourses available to me from my home state of Georgia. I have spent many hours perusing the Folk pottery museum to study of the faces crafted by the potters of my region. During this time I was also drawn to the serious nature and austere expressions of the Greek Classical period. With my work in face pottery, I strive to bring the pottery and tradition of my home into the light of modern fine art. By blending the methods and techniques of Georgia folk pottery with the style of the master sculptors from Ancient Greece, I bring new inspirations to life.
